Syracuse Law Hosts Judge Hurd for a Fireside Chat

On September 29, the Hon. David N. Hurd, United States District Judge for the Northern District of New York, spoke with colleagues, students and alumni of the Syracuse University School of Law at a fireside chat. The event featuring Judge Hurd, Class of 1963, was part of the Syracuse Law Alumni Weekend.

Joined by Robert Julian, of Robert Julian, P.C., and formerly a New York State Supreme Court Justice; Mitchell J. Katz, of Barclay Damon LLP; and Patrick Radel, of Getnick Livingston Atkinson & Priore, LLP, the event provided the opportunity for an informal conversation with a highly respected member of the federal judiciary. The group discussed a diverse set of topics, including Judge Hurd’s legal and judicial career, the decline of jury trials in the federal court system, and issues surrounding the federal sentencing guidelines.
