Annual Golf Tournament Survives Covid Cancellation

Published: October 1, 2020

The FCBA’s 15th Annual Golf Event, scheduled for Monday, August 24 at Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse, was cancelled at the last moment due to lack of participation. And then, unbeknownst to a dozen of its participants, it was resurrected informally at venues in the Capital Region and Central New York.

At Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady, two foursomes made use of the open day on their calendars, including retired Albany County Supreme Court Justice Joseph Teresi and attorneys Paul Devane, Dennis Schlenker, Joe McCoy and Don Kinsella. After a hard-fought battle in a best-ball format, the foursomes tied at 13 under on the par-71 parkland course.

Meanwhile, at Onondaga Golf and Country Club in Fayetteville, a foursome teed off: Chief Judge Glenn T. Suddaby, his term law clerk Jon Maddalone, his career law clerk (and host) Mike Langan, and attorney John Langan. After spending the afternoon searching for their wayward drives in the tangled bentgrass, the foursome finished at 9 under on the par-71 Walter Travis course.

Prizes were awarded of a value equal to the amount of the impromptu tournament’s entry fee. All participants are looking forward to the FCBA’s 16th Annual Golf Event, scheduled for August 2021.
