CLE: “The Jurisdictions. What Differs: Federal-State-Military”
Watertown, New York

The NDNY Federal Court Bar Association and the Judge Advocate General’s Office Fort Drum Military Installation present a CLE Program: “The Jurisdictions. What Differs” Federal-State-Military”. John Powers, Esq., Hancock & Estabrook will speak on the Federal and State jurisdictions. Capts. Abraham Young, Chief, Criminal Law Division, Christopher Dolan, Special Vicitm Prosecutor and Christopher Hoelzer, Special Victim Counsel from the Judge Advocate General’s Office will discuss the Military jurisdictions. Following the speakers, Donald Oliver, Esq., Blitman & King, LLP will moderate a Judges Panel to include: Hon. Frederick J. Scullin, Jr., Senior U.S. District Court Judge, Northern District of New York; Hon. Norman A. Mordue, Senior U.S. District Court Judge, Northern District of New York; Hon. James P. McClusky, Supreme Court Justice, Fifth Judicial District; and Lt. Col. Elizabeth Kubala, Military Judge, Fort Drum Military Installation, New York.

The program will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Black River Valley Club, 131 Washington Street, Watertown, New York. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. The program is free to all NDNY-FCBA members and to those-soon to-be admitted members into the NDNY in 2014 who are recent graduates from law school and who apply for membership in the NDNY-FCBA. Members of the Judge Advocate General’s Office are honorary members of the NDNY FCBA.

Admission Ceremony

The Northern District of New York will sponsor an Admissions Ceremony to admit attorneys to the bar of the Northern District of New York following the CLE program on May 2, 2014 at 11:45 a.m. at the Black River Valley Club. The Honorable Norman A. Mordue, Senior U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of New York will preside. John Powers, Esq., and Donald Oliver will move for admission of all applicants who have been approved for admission into the Northern District of New York by the Court.

Law Day Luncheon

A luncheon in celebration of Law Week and in honor of the Newly Admitted Attorneys will follow the Admission Ceremony. Our Keynote Speaker will be Michael Langan, Esq., Career Law Clerk. Northern District of New York. Mr. Langan will speak on “The Civil Rights Act : A Northern District Perpective” in keeping with the theme for Law Week, “American Democracy and the Rule of Law: Why Every Vote Matters”.

Interested attorneys should forward completed admission applications to Tracey A.
