New United States Magistrate Judge Miro Lovric

On March 21, 2019, the Board of Judges of the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York selected Miroslav Lovric to serve as a Magistrate Judge in Binghamton upon the retirement of Magistrate Judge David E. Peebles. Magistrate Judge Peebles will be retiring on June 30, 2019.

Mr. Lovric received his Juris Doctorate from Hofstra University School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University. Mr. Lovric served as an Assistant District Attorney for New York County for eight years and has been in his current position as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York in the Binghamton Office for the last 26 years.

The Board of Judges and the staff of the United States District Court are pleased to welcome Miroslav Lovric to the Northern District of New York bench. I am confident that he will serve the litigants and public well in his new position as a United States Magistrate Judge. Full-time Magistrate judges are appointed by the District Court Judges to eight-year terms; they assist District Court Judges with the work of the court by facilitating the disposition of certain civil and criminal cases.
