Recent Careers Moves – Fall 2017

Effective January 1, 2018, M. Cornelia Cahill will be the deputy managing partner of Barclay Damon LLP. She works principally out of the firm’s Albany Office. In the newly created position of deputy managing partner, she will be working closely with the firm’s managing partner, John P. Langan, in Syracuse.

As of October 16, Robyn Hoffman will be a federal Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration, working in Syracuse. She was a career clerk to United States Magistrate Judge Randolph F. Treece for 12.5 years, and to United States Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart for 2 years.

On October 8, Lauren Sang-Hee Owens began training for the Judge Advocate General Corps for the United States Army Reserve. As part of her appointment, she will complete the Direct Commission Course in Fort Benning, Georgia and the Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course in Charlottesville, Virginia. Upon completion of her training, Lauren will return to Dreyer Boyajian LLP and will be part of the Army Legal Operations Detachment in Schenectady, New York.

In September, Jamie Dughi Hogenkamp rejoined Barclay Damon LLP after leaving the firm for a temporary assignment clerking for Associate Judge Michael J. Garcia of the New York State Court of Appeals. Jamie is an associate in the Health Care & Human Services and Health Care Controversies Practice Areas in the Albany office.

In September, Paul Kietzman joined Barclay Damon LLP as of counsel in the firm’s Health Care & Human Services Practice Area in the Albany office. He was previously senior counsel at NYSARC, the largest private provider of services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

In July, Richard S. Hartunian retired from the Department of Justice after 20 years of service, the last 7.5 years as United States Attorney for the Northern District of New York. He is now a partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, focusing on corporate investigations and white collar criminal defense. He works in Manatt’s Manhattan and Albany offices.

In March, Zackary Oren was promoted from Assistant Corporation Counsel to First Assistant Corporation Counsel at the City of Utica Law Department.

In February, Isabelle J. Cantanucci (Golden Gate University School of Law) started as an associate at Towne, Ryan & Partners, P.C. in Albany.

Bond Schoeneck & King announced its 2017 associate class: Mara D. Afzali (Albany Law), Alyssa J. Jones (Cornell Law), New York: Kaveh Dabashi (St. John’s Law), Stephanie H. Fedorka (Syracuse Law) and Amber L. Lawyer (Syracuse Law).

Hancock Estabrook, LLP announced that attorneys Sarah B. Berman (Syracuse Law), Renee L. James (Albany Law), Keith J. McCafferty (University of Utah Law) and Paul J. Tuck (Vermont Law School) have joined the firm.
