The NDNY-Federal Court Bar Association cordially invites you to attend its Eleventh Annual Meeting, Dinner and CLE Program on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Genesee Grande Hotel, 1060 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, New York 13210.

Our CLE program this year will highlight current issues concerning copyright law, trade secrets and patents and is entitled, “Hot Topics in Intellectual Property.” The program will start at 1:00 p.m. (please arrive by 12:30 p.m. to allow time for sign-in) and offers 3.0 credits towards the professional practice requirement.

The Annual Meeting will convene at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by a complimentary cocktail reception at 5:15 p.m. that is being graciously sponsored by several of our Central New York Region law firms. Our Annual Dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. We have an exciting evening planned.

At the Annual Dinner, we will honor our 2014 Duane Award recipient, William J. Dreyer, Esq., Dreyer, Boyajian, LLP, for his distinguished service as a member of the bar and his steadfast commitment to the practice of law and unswerving integrity. Mr. Dreyer is a Past President and Trustee of the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association. We will also recognize our 2013 Pro Bono Attorneys for their pro bono work and honor our Hon. Frederick J. Scullin Jr. Scholars, our Fifty Year Members of the Northern District of New York Bar, and JAG officers from Fort Drum. In celebration of the 225th Anniversary of the Northern District of New York as Mother Court, the first court ever convened under the sovereignty of the United States, there will also be a special video presentation of the Duane Mansion and Christ Episcopal Church, honoring the Court’s first judge, Judge James R. Duane.

We are honored to have Joe DiMona, Vice President of Legal Affairs at Broadcast Music, Inc.®, as our keynote speaker. The topic he will present is “Copyright Issues in the Digital Age”. Mr. Di Mona oversees license negotiations and license fee litigation before the BMI rate court in the Southern District of New York, the negotiation and drafting of music performance license agreements, and handling Copyright Royalty Board compulsory license proceedings and copyright infringement actions against unlicensed music users. Mr. Di Mona has dealt extensively with legislative and regulatory matters in Washington, D.C., for two decades, including testifying at Copyright Office hearings. He was involved in the creation of the first music performance Internet website license in 1995 and has been active in new media licensing and digital copyright issues. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on matters involving copyright law and digital media licensing issues.
